Advice for you to follow
Take care at all times on the roads
To reach the resort of les Arcs and to drive in the greatest possible safety during the winter, we recommend that you fit winter tyres, or failing that, bring your snow chains. Don’t forget to put them where you can reach them so you can fit them at any time without difficulty!
Information to keep in mind:
> Snow chains become compulsory on at least two driving wheels on snow-covered sections of road when there is a sign “équipements spéciaux obligatoires” (special equipment compulsory). If you have to fit chains, you must use the marked zones de chaînages (chain fitting area).
>Snow socks are permitted and usable on roads where this sign is displayed. However, these substitutes cannot in any way replace traditional chains in extreme conditions.
>We would remind you that for obvious safety reasons, it is forbidden to overtake snow clearance vehicles carrying out their function.
Little tip: practice putting your special equipment on your vehicle at least once before you leave home to save time and minimise the risks when you are in more difficult conditions.
Keep listening to the radio
We recommend that you listen to one of the following public service radio stations, to keep abreast of traffic conditions on the roads at all times:
> Autoroute INFO (107.7 Mhz) for the motorway networks
> France Bleu Pays de Savoie (103.9 Mhz) for roads in Savoie
> R’ Les Arcs (93.4 Mhz) for local roads
Little tip: in the event of heavy snowfalls, we recommend that you avoid taking to the roads unless your journey is absolutely necessary and that you delay your departure.
Don’t forget your equipment
Situated at an altitude ranging from 1200 to 3250m, Les Arcs has a typically mountain climate for which you must bring warm and waterproof clothing.
Little tip: remember to keep close at hand in your vehicle an electric torch, bottles of water and something to eat for a worry-free journey, especially in the event of a traffic jam.
