La Démontagnée Gourmande

21st October 2023

The Démontagnée Gourmande in Bourg Saint Maurice is a chance for everyone to get together on the way down from the mountain pastures.

From 10am, head to the bus station car park to discover a village of exhibitors offering a variety of gastronomic products. Throughout the day, the town will be alive with a variety of activities to celebrate the end of the mountain pasture season.

At 10:30 a.m, watch the grand parade of herds of Tarine and Abundance cows, goats, sheep and other animals. These herds will parade through the town of Bourg Saint Maurice, accompanied by the sound of doorbells and a number of musical groups: L'Harmony / Cors des Alpes / Cliqueraine de Beaufort / Chapladiots.

A convivial meal will be served on site. On the menu: Terrine / Beef bourguignon / Chips / Cheese / Blueberry éclair / Coffee for €18.

The Demontagnée is also an opportunity to discover the valley's best fodder competition. Samples of forage will be collected, analysed and graded to select the best. On the day, a panel of experts will assess the samples based on their visual appearance. The results will then be shared with farmers to help them improve the quality of their forage. This year, we also want to involve the public present at the competition by offering them an adapted visual analysis grid. And guess what? The overall winner will go home with a delicious slice of Beaufort cheese as a reward. We look forward to seeing you there!

To round off the day, from 8.30pm, the young farmers will be holding their traditional Bal de la Démontagnée in the bus station car park.

The roads in the town centre will be closed to traffic from 10.15am until the end of the parade. For parking, if you are coming from Aime or Moûtiers you can park in the Funiculaire car park or the Vanoise car park, and if you are coming from Séez or Tignes you can park in the Place Saint Jean car park.
